The Salary Negotiator costs a flat $2,250 per engagement, paid up front, and refunds that fee if your first-year total compensation does not rise by at least $10,000 from the initial offer. The fee covers a custom strategy, unlimited live prep calls and drafted emails with the founder, Brandon Bramley, and it covers several offers if they arrive within a month. The catch is eligibility: you need $130,000 or more in compensation, and the guarantee does not apply to startup roles, government roles or anyone who started negotiating before enrolling.
That makes it a strong fit for one kind of buyer and a poor fit for most others. The numbers below are read from the company's own pricing and FAQ pages in September 2026.
How much does The Salary Negotiator cost?
One price: $2,250 for salary negotiation coaching. There are no tiers, no hourly billing and no payment plan on the pricing page, and the site says its rates are not negotiable. You pay by card before the work starts. For that you get:
- A negotiation strategy built for your role, company and situation.
- Unlimited live prep calls and a drafted email for every recruiter interaction, with no hourly cap.
- Access to its job offer negotiation course.
- Work directly with the founder rather than a pool of part-time coaches.
- Coverage for more than one offer if they come in within a month of starting.
The FAQ puts a typical negotiation at three to five days from the moment you receive an offer. That is the realistic window you are paying for, which is why the flat fee reads high per hour and low per dollar won.
What does the $10,000 guarantee actually cover?
It is a refund of the $2,250 fee if your first-year total compensation does not increase by at least $10,000 over the initial offer. It is not a promise that the employer will pay more. The company says so itself: nobody can guarantee a company will raise an offer. What the guarantee protects is your fee, and it only applies inside these limits:
| Situation | Can you hire them? | Does the guarantee apply? |
|---|---|---|
| Compensation of $130,000 or more, 1 to 2+ years of salaried experience, private-sector company | Yes | Yes |
| Compensation under $130,000 | No | No |
| New grad, intern, or intern-to-full-time conversion | No | No |
| Contract, contract-to-hire or hourly role | No | No |
| Startup company role | Yes | No |
| Government agency or educational institution role | Yes | No |
| You already started negotiating before enrolling | Yes | No |
| You did not follow the coaching guidance | Yes | No |
| You already accepted the offer | No renegotiation after acceptance | No |
| A raise or promotion at your current employer | No, it points you to its courses | No |
The pattern is the same one Levels.fyi follows with its own refund policy: the guarantee is aimed at established private-sector professionals with a single live offer, where a $10,000 move is realistic. Everyone the table rules out is someone for whom the guarantee is either unlikely to trigger or hard to measure.
Is The Salary Negotiator worth $2,250?
It depends almost entirely on whether the increase lands in base salary or in one-time money. A base increase repeats every year and compounds into future raises; a sign-on bonus arrives once. This is simple arithmetic on the flat fee, before tax:
| Increase won | Fee as a share of year one gain | Year one gain after fee | Four-year gain after fee, if it is base salary |
|---|---|---|---|
| $5,000 | 45% | $2,750 | $17,750 |
| $10,000 | 22.5% | $7,750 | $37,750 |
| $15,000 | 15% | $12,750 | $57,750 |
| $25,000 | 9% | $22,750 | $97,750 |
At the $130,000 floor, a 5 percent base increase is $6,500, and the fee takes about a third of the first year. At $200,000 with competing offers, a $25,000 move makes $2,250 look small. The buyer who gets the most from a flat fee is a senior candidate with real leverage and a large expected gap, which is exactly the buyer the eligibility rules select for.
Before paying anyone, work out the gap yourself. The counter offer salary calculator gives you the figure to ask for, and that figure tells you whether a $2,250 fee is 9 percent of the win or 45 percent of it.
Does The Salary Negotiator negotiate for you?
No. Its FAQ states that you are the one speaking on any calls with the recruiting team. The coach prepares you, plans each step and drafts the emails, and you send them and take the calls. That is standard for the whole category. Levels.fyi says the same about its coaches, and Rora's contingency model is also framed as coaching. If you want someone to speak to the employer on your behalf, none of these services sells that.
What to use if The Salary Negotiator will not take you
Most people searching the name fall into one of the excluded rows. Each has a better-matched option.
Federal job offers
The guarantee does not cover government roles, and federal pay works differently anyway. A new federal hire can ask for a step above step 1 under a superior qualifications appointment, but since 2024 the agency cannot use your private-sector salary to justify it, so pay stubs no longer work. The GS step negotiation calculator prices each step on the 2026 OPM tables and includes the request letter to send before the final offer.
Raises and promotions at your current job
The Salary Negotiator does not coach internal negotiations. They follow a different script: the case is your results and the market rate for the role, and the timing is the budget cycle. The raise negotiation page covers the number and the wording.
Offers under $130,000
Below the floor, a flat fee eats too much of a realistic increase, and the most valuable thing you can add is a second live process, not a coach. A marketer holding a $110,000 offer, for instance, usually gains more from a competing offer than from any adviser, and marketing roles sorted by specialty are a faster route to one than a general job board. Then counter with a number you can justify in one sentence.
The Salary Negotiator alternatives compared
The useful comparison is how each service charges, because that decides who it suits. Prices come from each vendor's own pages.

Where The Salary Negotiator wins: a single, well-reviewed human who stays with you through every email of a senior private-sector negotiation, with the fee protected if nothing moves. Where it does not fit: candidates below the floor, startup and government offers, internal raises, and anyone who has already started talking numbers. The Levels.fyi pricing breakdown covers the closest flat-fee rival tier by tier, and the salary negotiation coach comparison lists eight services with their guarantees and exclusions side by side.
Frequently asked questions about The Salary Negotiator
How much does The Salary Negotiator charge?
$2,250, as a single fixed fee paid before coaching begins. It includes unlimited prep calls, drafted recruiter emails, its negotiation course and coverage of multiple offers received within a month. The price is the same for every eligible client and the company says its rates are not negotiable.
Is The Salary Negotiator guarantee real?
Yes, as a refund policy. If your first-year total compensation does not rise by at least $10,000 from the initial offer, you can get the coaching fee back. It excludes compensation under $130,000, new grads, interns, contractors, startup roles, government and education roles, negotiations started before enrolling, and clients who deviate from the guidance.
Does The Salary Negotiator work with startups?
It will coach startup offers, but the $10,000 guarantee does not apply to startup company roles. Startup offers usually lean on equity with no liquid value yet, which makes a guaranteed increase hard to measure. If most of the gap you care about is equity, price the grant yourself before paying a flat fee.
Can The Salary Negotiator help me negotiate a raise?
No. It does not coach negotiations with your current employer, and it points those clients to its courses instead. It also will not renegotiate an offer you have already accepted. For an internal raise or promotion you need a case built on results and market data, timed to the budget cycle.
Counteroffer members paste the offer and get the whole negotiation in one package: the counter figure and the one sentence that justifies it, the script for the call, the email, and the reply for when the recruiter says the budget is fixed. There is no income floor and no exclusion for startup, federal or internal negotiations, and every negotiation on the plan is included. This is career coaching, not legal or financial advice.
