The best salary negotiation service depends on how large your offer is and how you want to pay. A human coach with a guarantee, such as Levels.fyi or The Salary Negotiator, costs $1,250 to $2,450 for a single offer. A success-fee service such as Candor or Rora takes a share of what you win and charges nothing if the offer does not move. A self-serve coach such as Counteroffer runs from $24 a month billed yearly and returns the counter number, script and email on the day you paste the offer.

How much does a salary negotiation service cost?

Published fees run from about $100 for a single coaching hour to $5,000 for executive packages, and some services publish no price at all. The table lists what each service states on its own site, as we last read it. Prices change, so confirm before you pay.

Read the table for the pattern: the more a service charges up front, the more it promises a guaranteed result, and the more narrowly it defines who qualifies.

Is a salary negotiation service worth it?

It is worth it when the gain from one negotiated change exceeds the fee several times over, and the usual place that happens is equity or a large base. Raising a $150,000 base by 6 percent is $9,000 a year, which clears a $1,250 package in the first four months. On a $70,000 offer the same 6 percent is $4,200, and a $2,250 fee eats more than half of the first year of that gain. Match the price of the help to the size of the lever.

Two checks save most of the regret. First, read the guarantee exclusions. The Salary Negotiator's refund does not apply below $130,000 or to startup and government roles, which is covered in our breakdown of The Salary Negotiator cost. Second, ask whether a share-of-increase fee is charged on the whole raise or only on the part you could not have won by asking politely.

Can I hire someone to negotiate my salary?

Yes, but almost no one negotiates in your place. Coaches and services prepare you and often draft the emails, and you send them and take the calls. The exceptions are recruiter-style arrangements where a third party relays your terms. Even then the employer is dealing with you from the first email, so the preparation matters more than who presses send.

Which type of salary negotiation service fits you?

Flat-fee coaching with a guarantee

Choose this for a high-stakes offer with equity, where a single call with someone who has seen hundreds of packages changes the structure of the ask. You get judgment and a second opinion. You also pay in advance and wait for a booking slot, so check the dates against your offer deadline. Our Levels.fyi alternative comparison sets the three packages next to a subscription.

Success-fee services

Choose this when you would rather not risk money up front and your profile fits their niche. The cost is hidden until you ask, and it grows with the win. Ask for the percentage, the base it applies to and the payment date in writing. We went through the model in detail for Candor and Rora.

Hourly coaching

Choose this to rehearse the conversation, especially if the hard part for you is saying the number out loud. One session is a modest spend. It does not research the market for you, so bring a number. IGotAnOffer's credit pricing is the cleanest example.

A self-serve negotiation coach

Choose this when your deadline is days away, your offer is under about $130,000, or you want to compare several offers without paying for each. You paste the offer once and get a benchmark, the exact figure to counter with, a talking script, a counter email and send timing. It does not give you a human rehearsal partner, and if you want one, pair it with a single hourly session. The salary negotiation coach page shows what the packet contains.

What should you check before you pay any negotiation service?

  • Who qualifies. Salary floors, role types and industries are where guarantees quietly stop applying.
  • What counts as the increase. Base only, or bonus and equity as well, and measured against which starting offer.
  • When the fee is due. Before the work, on acceptance, or spread over months.
  • How fast you get help. Offers carry deadlines, usually a few business days.
  • What you send yourself. Confirm you keep control of the emails and the final decision.

A fair way to decide in five minutes

Write down the largest figure you could plausibly gain, base plus first-year bonus plus the sign-on. If it is under $5,000, a subscription is the proportionate spend. If it sits between $5,000 and $20,000, a subscription plus one hourly session covers both the number and the delivery. Above that, or when equity is the main piece, the flat-fee packages earn their price, provided you meet the eligibility rules. Whichever route you take, never negotiate without a market figure for your level, because every service in the table starts from one.

Once the offer is settled, the next question is usually where the role leads. A career mentor such as the one at an AI mentor for planning your next career move can map the path to your first promotion.

If you have a written offer in hand, paste it into Counteroffer for the benchmark, the number to counter and the email. See the plans and pick the one that matches the stakes.
