Refund policy
Applies from October 14, 2026
Counteroffer payments are final. We give money back only in the three cases described below, and only when the records described at the end of this page support the claim. This policy is part of our Terms of Service.
Paying for access, not for a result
A Counteroffer plan is a monthly or yearly subscription to the coach: market benchmarks for your role and location, a counter number, talking points, email drafts and the other features listed for your plan on the pricing page. Everything in the plan is open to you from the first day of each period, and the fee does not depend on how many offers you run through it.
Counteroffer is educational coaching. Whether an employer raises an offer depends on the employer, the market and how the conversation goes, so we sell access to the coach, not a raise. When you subscribe, you ask us to start the service immediately and accept that any statutory right of withdrawal or cooling-off period that would otherwise apply ends once the service has begun.
What we do not refund
- The employer did not move on base, bonus or equity, withdrew the offer, or you accepted a lower number than the one suggested.
- You negotiated successfully and no longer need the coach.
- You did not use the plan, or used fewer drafts or reviews than it includes, during a paid period.
- You disagree with a benchmark or a suggested counter. Market data is an estimate and the advice is educational.
- A renewal that was collected after one or more declined card attempts.
- You took the plan for a one-off purchase. Every plan renews automatically, as the pricing page, checkout, confirmation email and account all state.
- You forgot to cancel before the renewal date, or cancelled straight after a renewal.
- A feature you expected is not listed on the pricing page.
- You chose the wrong plan or the wrong billing period.
- Someone else used your login.
- Days left after you cancel. Access lasts until the end of the paid period and is not pro-rated.
When we do refund
- You were charged twice for the same period because of an error in our billing.
- Your card was used without your permission, you tell us within 14 days of the charge, and the account and payment records confirm it. A statement on its own is not enough; we check the records together with our payment operator and may ask you to confirm that you reported the misuse to your card issuer.
- The service did not work at all for a continuous period because of a fault we confirm on our side, you reported it at the time, and we could not fix it. Slow responses, one failed draft, or problems with your own device, browser or connection do not count.
A refund we approve is returned to the card that was charged, is limited to what you paid for the affected period, and covers our entire liability for that charge. It does not create a right to any later refund.
How to request a refund
Email [email protected] from the address on your account within 14 days of the charge. Include the date, the amount and which of the three cases applies. Requests made after 14 days, or from an address we cannot match to an account, are not considered. We review requests in the order received and do not reopen one we have declined.
Raising a chargeback with your bank before contacting us breaches our Terms of Service and results in permanent closure of the account.
Cancelling, renewals and failed payments
You can cancel from your account at any time, without contacting us. Cancelling stops every future renewal at once, and you keep the coach until the end of the period you have already paid for. A cancellation is not a refund request.
Each new period starts on the renewal date shown in your account and is payable from that day. If your card is declined, our payment operator retries the same unpaid invoice over the next few days; a retry is not a new charge. Cancelling during retries stops the renewals that follow, while the period already started remains payable and is not refunded, even when the payment succeeds a few days late.
Records we keep
Creating an account means accepting our Terms of Service, which include this policy and our Privacy Policy. Before payment, checkout shows the plan, price, billing period and automatic renewal, and the confirmation email repeats them.
For each subscription we keep the purchase time, the plan and price shown at checkout, your acceptance of the terms, the emails we sent, renewal notices, and an activity log of the account, including sign-ins, offers entered, benchmarks viewed and drafts created, with the technical details logged with each. Our payment operator keeps its own record of every charge, including the country where the card was issued, where the payment came from and the result of bank authentication such as 3D Secure. Refund and dispute claims are assessed against these records, which we provide to the card issuer if a chargeback is opened.
Earlier subscriptions
A subscription bought before October 14, 2026 stays under the refund terms in effect on the day of purchase.
